Attending the Summer Fashion Extravaganza show at the St. Regis Resort and Spa at Monarch Beach was a dream come true for me: amazing designers, beautiful scenery, and fashionistas in one room-count me in! I was in awe of the collections and trends that I witnessed firsthand. Luckily, I was able to catch one of my favorite designers show off her latest collection: Trina Turk!
A California Local, Turk has quintessentially captured the sunny and fun vibe of California fashion with her well-known brand. According to Turk’s design statement, she is “inspired by and represents the lifestyle of California: optimistic, progressive, accessible, effortless, cool, and confident.” Her ready-to-wear, accessory, and home collections are influenced by her love of everything vintage, the ‘60s and ‘70s, and mid-century and modern architecture. With her dynamic colors and signature prints in everything she creates, Turk’s name has become a serious staple in the design world.
The pieces in the show were full of color, energy, and fit wonderfully! Models wore bright, summery hues and looked confident in the ready-to-wear pieces Turk is widely known for. In long and short sleeve dresses, shorts, tanks, and gorgeous blouses, every piece was different. I loved the use of patterns in her line. There were beautiful geometric shapes and designs in a multitude of colors that were beyond flattering on the models’ frames. Accented with simple belts, blazers and jewelry, the outfits could be dressed up or down. My favorite pieces were her sleeveless blouses with keyhole necklines. They would be ideal for a seamless transition from the desk to a night out and would look chic with just about anything. The materials were well made, flattering, and luxurious.
All in all, the line made me want to make a quick trip to Palm Springs and stroll around town in one of these fitting pieces. Turk’s collection was a winner in my book- she hit all the right points while managing to incorporate all of summer’s hottest trends at the same time.
